Bashan

Northern region on the eastern side of the Jordan River. Kingdom of Og that was captured by Moshe in the 40th year in the desert and became part of the tribal territory of half of the tribe of Menashe. As a border territory it transferred hands to Aram, back to Israel in the days of Yerovam ben Yoash, and ultimately its inhabitants were exiled by Tiglath-Pileser of Assyria.
