Haroshet Haggoyim

Haroshet Haggoyim is located in the northern part of the Land of Israel, in the area of the Kishon.

Identified by Professor Adam Zertal with the village of Al- Ahwat. Another opinion identifies Haroshet Haggoyim with Tel Omer, next to Beit She'arim of today.

  • Sisra, the general of King Yavin of Canaan's army, resided in Haroshet Haggoyim and made it the center for his iron chariots (Judges 4, 2-13).
  • Barak, the Israelite army general, pursued Sisra's chariot to Haroshet Haggoyim (Judges 4, 16).
  • According to B. Mazar, the word "Haroshet" here means "mountain" or forested mountain, referring to the Galilean mountains toward which the enemy chariots fled (Lexicon Mikra'i, M. Soliali, ed.).
