A city of Kohanim in the tribal territory of Binyamin, located north of Jerusalem. The Kohen ​Ahimelekh inadvertently provided refuge for David while David was fleeing from Shaul, ultimately leading to Shaul's order to destroy the city and its inhabitants. All of the city's inhabitants were killed, except for Evyatar, son of Ahimelekh, who joined David's camp.
