Carmel (Yehudah)

A city in the tribal territory of Yehuda. At Carmel, Shaul erected a monument for himself after his victory over Amalek before Shmuel chastised him for his failure in that war. Naval HaCarmeli did business there and when he was ungrateful for David's protection, David set out to kill him if not for the intervention of Avigayil, Naval's wife. After Naval's death, Avigayil became David's wife.
