Ayalon (Dan)

Ayalon is a Levite city in the tribal territory of Dan, from which comes the name for Emek (valley) Ayalon at its foothills.

Currently identified with Tel Aijalon next to the Arab village of Yalo.

The location was identified by Y. Schwartz.

The book of Joshua relates that the sun and moon stood still until Yehoshua finished vanquishing the southern kings during the battle of Ayalon (Joshua 10, 12).
