Gat (Pelishti)

Gat is one of the five major cities in the land of the Pelishtim, bordering Yehuda.

  • Gat was the city of Pelishti King Akhish who provided David with refuge while David was fleeing from King Saul (I Samuel 27, 2-11).

  • King Rehavam built fortifications in Gat (II Chronicles 11, 8).
  • King Uzziya of Yehuda conquered Gat (II Chronicle 6, 6).
